Well said.

I took a different tack when I approached the subject of ideas last week, but it's the same basic concept. Those of us in a position to execute on our ideas are being paid because of our ability to execute, not because our ideas have any inherent value.

We keep doing the work because we love the ideas we have, and we want to see them executed upon. We have absolutely no shortage of them. Thus, please don't send us your ideas. We don't need them, don't especially want them, and we're certainly not going to BUY them from you.

Do they believe that we don't have ideas of our own? That we've been in this industry all this time and don't have concepts we'd like to create?

Probably not. Maybe they just want to toss something out there and see the reaction. They have nothing too loose, and you have to start trying somewhere.

I'd had this idea of getting an UDON artist to do a street fighter style poster of the Knights of the Shroud and was all twinkly-eyed about it, but then the facts floated in, like while it would be worth every damn penny it would cost, there's no way I could afford artists of that caliber. So! Doing it on my own, hoo-rah.
