Those photographs are STUNNING. No other word for it. I particularly love the color and mood variance of the set you shot from your hotel window.
That landing, oh, my! Fun! (That was a HELLA steep turn around 5:00 where you're almost looking straight down at the ground, and I didn't think commercial jets were allowed to do maneuvers like that. Now I see the reason for the special training!) Stapleton in Denver has similar "fly over the runway, then drop-drop-drop" landing procedures, also because of mountains. Never noticed any crazy-steep turns, though. :)
. . . and you flew on an A380?? I'm jealous. Insanely jealous. (Got any more photos of her?)
Have a lovely time in NZ! Do share more of your photos? :)
Thanks! I'm so pleased with how those turned out...my camera doesn't always handle bright light so well.
Coming into Denver is always bumpy because of the mountains, in my experience. I only flew into Stapleton one time, but since it was the first flight I ever took, I have no idea how it compares to anything else!
No more photos of that one, I'm afraid, but I did walk through one at the Oshkosh air show a few years ago and so it close up and ridiculously big. I'll try to come back and add some pics later. :)
This brought back wonderful memories of my own trip to New Zealand. Are you still in Queenstown? This was our favorite restaurant of the entire trip: http://www.thecowrestaurant.co.nz/
One of my favorite day trips included a stop in Glenorchy, where the public library is just a little bigger than a shack and is only open Fridays from 1-3.
Anyway, your pics are *gorgrous* and I look forward to more!
Oh, cool! No, we're not there anymore, but the restaurants we did go to were quite good. And we didn't make it up to Glenorchy, either. That's so cute about the library!
Absolutely stunning photos. I really like the misty cloudy one from your window. One looks a bit like "they're taking the hobbits to Isengard." What a climb.
I have been known to let out a yell during turbulance so that landing would not be for me.
Thank you! I was amazed at how low the clouds were in that pic.
Everyone on the plane was reeeeeeally quiet. Except the two flight attendants strapped in in the back who kept chatting through the whole descent. Must be normal for them, I guess. *boggles*
