A/N: Alright, so the last 2 days have been nothing but gloomy and muggy. Even cold! [Damn New England weather] Anyways, the weather is just horrible where I am so I just felt the need to do something that makes me feel a little less lazy. Anyways its short but I have to warn you its kinda like....FLUFFAYYY...so that's just a warning read at your own risk. And a giant spider..../shivers...somewhere in my room is keeping me up...so hence the 1am installment.
Quinn sighed in frustration as she hung from the couch upside down. Something about watching TV upside down was supposed to help somehow. But Quinn knew it was just a bunch of bullshit as she laid still, letting the blood rush to her head.
Oh, god...Quinn thought as she flipped through the channel carelessly. There had been nothing worth watching. What was the worst part was that it was still morning.
The blonde had woken up to the sound of rain pattering against her window. The clouds were dark and the streets were silent with the exception of the rain pouring down. The air was cool and boring that it left everyone to stay inside. There wasn’t a single soul that could stand the gloom.
Quinn flipped through the channels a couple more times before letting out a large sigh. She had felt lazy because the day was already boring. There really was nothing to do.
The blonde fell further and further into a depressed state as the day seemed to get darker. It wasn’t until the sound of the door opening caught her attention. She picked up her head and saw Rachel walking with her pink polka dot raincoat and matching pink umbrella.
She made no effort to greet her girlfriend and went back to hanging her head off the edge. Rachel had known where the spare key of. She had her eyes half open in languor that she didn’t really care too much anymore.
"Isn’t the rain phenomenal?" Rachel chirped as she peeled off her raincoat. "I mean, it's such a soothing sensation. Did you know that there is a pattern with rainfall that makes it so calming? You just have to listen to it and just hear each time that the rain patters against the window or those few cars that drive by splash through the water. I would fall asleep to it but I prefer not to and find ways to enjoy these days. She hung her raincoat before continuing. She kept her eyes in awe at the rain outside. "It's just so inspiring because there are plenty of things to do before it stops. Because when it does everything gets washed away with the rain that when it’s over there is sunshine all over again. We all start new and fresh. Even the birds come back more cheerful than before and the grass becomes greener. It gives us hope and light that there is some light at the end of the tunnel."
Rachel heard nothing but the sound of the TV running in the background. She looked around for her girlfriend to see nothing but a pair of legs slung over the couch. She walked around it and sighed.
"Quinn? Did you even hear a single word I was saying?" Rachel asked.
Quinn looked up and saw Rachel standing there with her hands on her hips, looking extremely displeased. She was so withdrawn that she merely shrugged.
"Quinn Fabray! Why are you so depressed?!" Rachel yelled as she sat down next to Quinn. She pulled her blonde girlfriend up by her arms and sat her upright. Quinn didn’t fight it as her limbs swung around.
The brunette bore her eyes through Quinn's. She was clearly disapproving her current actions. "Quinn...today is beautiful day! Why do you look like you are going to die?" she asked again.
"Because its so...boooring," Quinn put all the emphasis on the last word as she could. She slumped back into the couch cushions.
Rachel frowned at how childish her girlfriend was being. She was also quite disappointed that Quinn didn’t feel the same way as she did about the day.
"Can you explain to me why you think this beautiful day is so...boring?" Rachel narrowed her eyes.
Quinn edged away at the stare. "Because we can't go outside and have fun. The clouds are blocking the sunlight, which I practically thrive on."
"You can have the most fun in the rain!" Rachel instantly protested. The blonde crossed her arms. "Come on, grab your shoes!" She dragged up her girlfriend and moved them towards the back door.
Rachel opened the back door and practically ran out. Quinn barely put on her shoes yet.
The blonde rolled her eyes at Rachel as she stood timidly at the door. The water was sure to melt her if she stepped out. She stared at Rachel who was still radiating with joy as she bounced through the little puddles of water like a little child. Rachel looked so whimsical as she outstretched her arms and faced the sky. She spun around like an airplane, relishing the water as it poured.
"You are going to get sick!" Quinn wrinkled her nose in distaste. "You are crazy!"
"Come on, Quinn!" Rachel yelled back. "It is fun! Join me! You can’t leave me wet and by myself! What am I going to do?"
Quinn snorted at a thought that ran through her mind. She stared at the relentless brunette and sighed. She grabbed an umbrella and exited her house. The muddy feeling underneath her feet as she stepped onto the grass made her feel disgusted. She gently dipped into the ground as she walked.
"God, Rachel! The ground is swallowing me alive!" Quinn yelled angrily as she kicked up her feet.
"Quinn, you’re being absolutely dramatic!" Rachel returned as she spun around happily. "The ground is quite firm enough for you to walk across. Now stop complaining and come over here!"
"You're going to get sick."
"Nah uh. The rain makes me feel all happy and tingly inside. No chance it would get me sick." Rachel jumped into a puddle again and the loud splash made her laugh. Quinn merely scowled as her shoes and pants got even dirtier.
Quinn pulled her in under her umbrella. She had enough of this insanity. She wanted it to be warm and sunny. Good weather was birds chirping in the air and a gentle breeze blowing by, not cold, cutting raindrops that cause your clothes to cling against your body.
Rachel squealed as she was pulled into Quinn. The rain stopped pouring down on her and she instantly pouted. Quinn fought the urge to smile. "What was that for?" she asked.
"Because you’re just going to get sick," Quinn reasoned as she held the brunette tightly in her arm and made sure the umbrella didn’t suddenly blow away. The damp girl didn’t seem to bother Quinn as much as she thought it would. All Quinn could feel was the warmth of Rachel pressed against her body as their hearts beat in unison.
Rachel looked up at Quinn. The look of concern was crossed with distaste as Quinn held Rachel. The only thing the brunette could do was laugh because that was always how Quinn expressed herself.
She tiptoed up to the blonde and brought their lips together for a warm, wet, messy kiss. But, Quinn didn’t seem to mind, hungrily taking Rachel's lips.
Suddenly, the rain started pouring on both of them and Quinn instantly pulled away, looking frantically for her umbrella. Rachel smiled as she took the umbrella and spun around with it.
"Hey, gimme that!"
"Nope!" Rachel taunted as she waved it around. She skipped away from the blonde. Quinn chased after the shorter girl, who was surprisingly adept to running in the rain. "Quinn, relax. Just try to have some fun. Because doesn’t it feel good right now? The water rushing down your face and all over your body. It's like a shower but better."
"That makes no sense, Rach. Just give me the umbrella before we both catch a cold."
"On one condition..."
"No."
"You have to..."
"No."
"Dance with me."
"No."
"Quinn!" Rachel yelled and refused to take No for answer. She promptly threw the umbrella down on ground and walked up to the blonde. She grabbed one of Quinn's hands and placed it around her waist as she held the other. "Dance!"
Quinn rolled her eyes at her petulant girlfriend. It wasn’t until Rachel started pulling that she just went along with it. There was never a point to fighting Rachel. Quinn was spun around far from graceful as the water hit her face. She started to laugh as she lost balance but Rachel kept her steady as they spun around in a Viennese Waltz. Quinn stared at Rachel who sported a completely serious face of a competitive dancer, leaving her in tears of laughter as they glided through the rain all over the back yard.
She started to laugh harder as the cool breeze brushed against her body. It was a comfortable and relaxing air. And as the rain fell, Quinn could feel a strange sensation leaving her body. Everything was like she was on a cloud. All she had was Rachel. That’s all she needed.
Rachel suddenly sneezed causing them both to stop moving. She shook her head and groaned as she recovered from her sneeze. Another set of sneezes followed one right after the other. Quinn was wondering if Rachel would suddenly sneeze hard enough to throw herself backwards.
"Are you okay?" the blonde asked looking even more concerned.
"Bleh...I think I did too much spinning around," Rachel meekly admitted. She rubbed her nose with a frown before burying her face in Quinn's chest. She held onto the blonde tightly and shivered. "I don’t think I feel too good now." Another loud sneeze followed. "I already spent too much time in the rain walking here."
Quinn smirked. "I told you so," she whispered as she held her sneezing girlfriend. "Let's get you back inside; all nice and dry."
Rachel nodded as she held Quinn tightly. The blonde led the way inside. "Did you have fun though? I mean that was something to entertain you for a little while with."
The blonde laughed sarcastically. "I guess but I told you nothing good comes out of the rain. You're already getting sick." Rachel whimpered. "Don't be a baby. You are lucky you just gave me something to do for the rest of the day."
"What?"
"Take care of you of course."
"Hmm. Quinn?"
"Yes?"
"Hot chocolate?"
"After a nice bath."
"With you?"
Quinn laughed. "Of course with me."
