We had quite a whirlwind weekend!

Friday nfdaughter and her daughter H. arrived at 3:30. We sat and visited for quite a while, then CG and I headed out to dinner at a local Japanese steakhouse. It was very yummy and we had a wonderful time. Afterwards we went to the local coffee shop to talk. Then, being us, we went to the grocery store to get milk, oj, and other assorted stuff. How many other parents end a date doing that? Probably a lot, I think.

Saturday nfdaughter and I were up early. We hit the local coffee shop and had a wonderful conversation before hitting the clothing store to buy a pretty shirt for the fancy schmancy wedding CG and I are going to next weekend. She reminded me thatI have to call the salon Tuesday to make an appt. to get my eyebrows and hair done Friday. I don't do the "girly things" very often--I wish she lived closer because it's good for me to pamper myself, and I just never do that. Anyway, she has to be the only person I know who would walk into a plus-size clothing store and walk out with a purchase. It was a purse, but I found it hilarious that skinny minny she bought something there. We headed back to my place and she hit the road for Cleveland. We headed out around 2 for the city Halloween party which was absolutely and totally fracking lame. I was rather mad that I spent $5/kid on this really lame thing and I can tell you we won't be going back next year. I think instead I'll just rent a jump house for the neighborhood kids and put out candy and have a block party. That would be more fun than this lame-o thing by the river.

We came home, and Ben and I crashed--we were exhausted. He absolutely did not want to get up for trick or treating, but eventually did and had a blast running around getting candy. The girls had a blast (Ro's friend Angel ended up joining us from the afternoon on, including sleeping over) and I sent them off to trick or treat on their own once Ben was too cold to continue.

I was mean and refused to give candy to anyone not in costume and fully expected our house to be tp'd because of it, but no-one did.

Ben and I crashed at 10 and I slept rather soundly until 8am. I was delighted to see nfdaughter at the house (I'd given her a house key) and we sat and visited. Breakfast/brunch consisted of sour dough bread french toast (she and H. had brought some), coffee, bacon, scrambled eggs, and fruit. She and H. left a while ago to meet lubeck and others at the Art Museum to see the Faberge exhibit. I wanted to join them but unfortunately work had to be done. (which I've just wrapped up).

Today will consist of lounging around and doing laundry. Ro's playing upstairs with her friend Angel and Ben is destroying the living room and trying to eat as much candy as he can (which currently is none because he won't eat "real food"). I'm looking forward to resting and napping and being with my family--a wonderful way to spend a wonderful weekend!
