Author’s Notes: Bringing Up Baby did so poorly at the box office when it was released (1938) that it got legendary director Howard Hawks fired off his next picture! That’s a shame, because this Katherine Hepburn/Cary Grant romp is pretty much the gold standard for screwball comedy. If you haven’t already, rent and watch it today. It’s the best.
