Hockey anyone?

A couple of weeks ago at the open house for B's school, D bid on a silent auction itme of Penguin hockey tickets and a $100 gift card to a great restaurant. He won the bid and the game was today.

He and I were really jazzed about it when we got the tickets and realized that the Penguins were playing the New Jersey Devils (a team we both detest), AND that we were in Row A! The front row, people. In the frickin' corner. Where we could see all the fights! We thought we'd be banging on the glass and everything, but when we got there, they had an additional row of folding chairs set up in front as a Row AA :( But the seats were beyond amazing. It was the first time I'd been to a hockey game when I didn't have to watch the jumbotron in the middle to keep track of what was going on, since it was all so very close. If you ever get a chance to see a hockey game from a Row A seat, I highly recommend it.

And the game itself was interesting. There weren't as many fights as I would have liked -- yes, I'm a bloodthirsty wench -- but it was fast-paced and each team played evenly uninspired. The score was 2-1 in favor of the Penguins and then ...

... with 19 seconds left in the THIRD PERIOD, the Devils scored to send it into overtime. Then the Devils scored again, defeating the Pens. Quite a buzzkill.

D goes out of town again tomorrow for another 2 weeks. We'll miss him :) Must go pack some more.
