OK, i'll come back and add bits about these a little later, but at the moment i just want to get down what i've read since my last post so i don't forget.
the consolations of philosophy - alain de botton
i was reading this during my last post. finished it. liked it despite the annoying pictures.
popular music - Mikael Niemi
swedish book that magdalena gave me. well, she gave it to pete but i stole it. loved it.
the insult - rupert thomson
weird book about someone who kinda might have gone blind, but you're not sure. liked it.
death is a lonely business - ray bradbury
started this book a few years ago, but never finished it. finished it now. was ok, but i've grown to hate bradbury's writing style.
the karamazov brothers - fyodor dostoevsky
HUGE novel. took me ages to finish it. i enjoyed it, but nowhere near as much as i enjoyed crime and punishment. to me it seemed to have philosophical essays bolted on to it, jarringly, which i didn't get along with. the last chapter is one of the saddest things i've ever read, and made me cry. but sad in a beautiful way.
factotum - charles bukowski
loved it. it's not beat writing, is it? sure reads like beat writing!
i can't think what else i've read recently actually. see what i mean? i should catalogue it more, as i want to see what i've read this year at the end of it.
