Can you imagine living during the Cold War? I think that'd be so cool/scary. You'd always be worried about an imminent attack since there wasn't really the technology to know what's going on everywhere at any given moment. At the same time, I think there'd be a part of me that'd just want to go ahead and attack. I mean, why sit around and wait? I'd love to just get rid of any threat of war by eliminating the aggressor first. I guess that explains a lot about me though haha. But in reality, I bet that was a plan seriously considered. I feel like the containment policies of the time were kind of a baby method of doing it. Maybe a method of proving "look, we can shut down other aggressive and oppressive nations with no problem, we can shut you down too." Then again, we didn't have that much success in Korea and Vietnam so maybe I'm not sure what I'm talking about! I feel like we were just too afraid to go all out because we didn't want a WWIII.
