In 1972 there was a man who knew how to hide from the past, much of what follows can be traced to that. It is not a normal thing to hide from the past, nor is it a good thing to do so. Still, manyt are driven to do so by events which they feel are uniquely unbearable. Luckily most of them fail, but a very few become very very good at hiding from any past.

The tattered king drew on the wall a door. Anyone who looked at the door would travel to their innermost selves. One week later the train station was closed by a man wearing blue. Mister None took a walk that Sunday to find the venom of regret, whose poison would taint one forever more. Turning left five times on James Street he entered the world of dreams and took the Tin Path and was never seen in waking worlds.

In 1985 a cabal of lucid dreamers planned to walk between the walls of their dreams through shared dreamscapes until they could control the dreams of others, then they would be able to pull everyone into waking dreams and control the world. Within 6 months the town of Edmon, Montana was a land of dreams for those who slept there. Warned by the rantings of "Radio" Jones, the Seer of the Shortwaves, Al Marley, Kathy "Buzzkill", and Alphonse realized the Dreaming Cabal's actions. Kathy had once slept with Mister None and knew of his quest, realizing that only the peerless venom could stop a dream that never ended she convinced the others to seek it.

Alphonse knew that to find a way into dream would require a door and a key. The last silver key had been seen in Rhode Island in Carter family. Finding the buried body of R. Carter they dug up his corpse and stole the silver key from his hands. With the key they found a long decayed train station and walked to the southern wall. With chalk stolen from a prison they drew a door on the wall and opened it with the key.  Walking down three hundred paths they found themselves in the canyon of despair which had no bottom. Three postcards addressed to the bottom dropped off the path carried them down until they reached a grove that nobody had walked in for three seven fives years. There they found the silver venom of Regret and none came back with them from the garden as they left, only three and their venom.

Alone the four traveled to Montana where they used the Silver Key to go into Edmon with eyes awake. Alphonse was able to open the dreams of those who lived there to chase after the Dreamers. Only Kathy could stand the venom of Regret, so she dipped a switchblade in it as they walked the rainbow halls. Al Marley was the only one who had not slept for six days, so his mind was clear of all dreams and could pass through minds of all people like soap bubbles. Chasing down the cabal, they killed the Crimson, Jenny, and Mad Mercy. Orlando was only caught when Alphonse opened the tides of madness in his mind to drown both of them. Kathy could not stab Warren and so doused herself in Regret and cut him with herself, ending his life. Al moved without barrier and shot Patrick in his bed.

The Dream Cabal was dead, Al spent the next day sleeping before taking a train to Portland. Kathy could not stand herself and slit her wrists. In the garden at the bottom of despair the trees turned red and the well of regret filled with a red venom. A man in blue came to Edmon to close down the Ramada Hotel where a murder had occurred.

One year later Al received a postcard thanking him for his help. There was no address or name. Mister None took a walk that Sunday.
