Is over! I enjoy when a story can be wrapped up, and I feel that the last two hours did a pretty good job of making the end cool.
Now, if you haven't seen the last four episodes, you should not
So, a few comments to make
The good:
It's nice to know Ozai supports genocide, makes him ever more of a lovable ruffian.
Azula went utterly insane. She really

Ouzai's genocide was convenient (he's EVIL!) but not out of character. And Aang's solution fit.
Giant lion-turtle kind of really was out of nowhere. "The Avatar doesn't exist" and even the ancestral Avatars were confused. But symbolically kind of the world itself coming to help out.
They hung the lampshade twice on Zuko. "Is it your turn to take a field trip with Zuko." "I want a life-changing field trip!"
Agree with your other lines.
Lots of "they're dead! oh, no they're not!" moments. So much for lightning being a guaranteed kill. Not that it is in real life.
The visuals were awesome; I'll have them flickering on my internal cinema for a while, with renewed feeling that "that's what Dragon-blooded should be like".
So much for needing to defeat the Firelord before the comet; Aang was doing pretty well for himself even before using the Avatar state.
Lots of character hookups. Updating ages for it being a year later:
Aang and Katara: 13 and 15.
Sokka and Suki: 16 and ??
Zuko and Mai: 17 and ?? but Azula is 15
Nothing really out of line but many Americans might think someone Aang's age to be Too Young, and Sokka and Suki perhaps too young for a night alone in a tent.
And if Zuko's 16, how old are his father, and white-haired Iroh? Either long age gaps, or more evidence that Fire Nation citizens are orcs short-lived.

If you watch closely in that scene, Zuko managed to redirect about half of it when he fell. Still a bit of an ouch, though. Also, I was kind of surprised that they showed him twitching in agony.
Honestly, going in to these episodes, I had no idea how they were going to wrap it up. I think they did a really good job.
God that was a good show. I will miss it. I will probably also miss the movie, but that's in a different sense. I can't imagine what kind of twist ending you could put on Avatar, but there's no way it would be good.

I do admit some worry about the "master of the twist" taking on the movie, especially as his recent twists haven't been all that good.

Given her rather obvious mental issues highlighted earlier this season (think, the Beach), I'm not completely surprised she broke down but the extent was a shock.
As for the rapid aging of the Fire Nation, we know that Iroh's old enough that he had a son near Zuko's current age during the assault on Ba Sing Se, when Zuko looked to be fairly young. That gives Iroh at least 20ish years on Zuko plus however old he was when he had his son. Assuming Iroh was in or near his 20 when he has his son he's going in his 60s currently.
