look, I'm talking about school for once

Language class today was terrible, as I am terrified of Mr. Goldberg and apparently cannot think at the same level as the rest of the class and at the same pace as the class thinks. We just toss around these incredibly heavy questions the entire time and I'm like "omg watch where you're throwing that holy crap why is everything moving so fast" while Mr. Goldberg talks importantly about whether God has any legitimate authority over human beings and stretches Plato's cave to places I am not sure it should actually be.

Math class was awesome. I talked a lot, and I didn't realize I had so much to say about Copernicus until I actually got to class, so that was a pleasant surprise. I also feel like I learned stuff from discussion, which was heartening, as I'd been sort of sitting back and being unhelpful and unhelped in math for the end of Ptolemy.

Seminar tonight on Matthew was also really fun, except I noticed there were a few people who were really quiet, and Josh looked kind of upset most of the time. :/ I'm actually really worried about him, but I figure if it's a crisis of faith kind of thing he's probably just got to work through it on his own, but it sucks to go through that sort of thing and I wish I could help.
I really enjoyed talking about Matthew, though, and I think tonight was the most I've ever talked in any seminar, ever. Definitely the most I've talked this year in seminar. It's really liberating to discuss the Bible in a non-church-related setting, actually- there's no common assumptions and outside ideas you have to take into account, just you, a bunch of people from different backgrounds, and what you all can figure out from the text. You can actually ask questions like "What is the kingdom of god?" and "What does it mean for Jesus to be both the Son of Man and somehow the Son of God?" and hopefully people will actually think about it for themselves instead of spouting what they heard from someone else. It's easier to notice all the really weird stuff and sometimes to make it all actually make sense, too.

I just wish everyone could have had as good a time as I did. :(

Also Ethelflaed is here! It was just like old times. :D It made me realize how much I missed having a) a roommate and b) her around, though. Ah well.
