I try not to get too political in my journal. It leads to flames. But I can't keep quiet about the latest Iraq War bullshit.
Whether or not you believe in the rightness of invading Iraq (and the subsequent fallout in the whole WHERE ARE the threatening WMD's fiasco), the latest revelations of abuse of prisoners is just sickening. It has to stop!
So much for the claims of liberating the iraqi people and leading by example to show them how democratic western rule is the better way to go.....
I cannot blame the soldiers, I truly believe they were acting on orders from higher up and with the help of intelligence.

And this: From NPR -Officials for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) say they warned U.S. authorities about the abuse of Iraqi prisoners long before recent allegations surfaced. The ICRC confirmed Friday it had warned the Bush administration about allegations of torture last year -- including guards firing from watchtowers at unarmed prisoners and severe beatings of inmates.
And of course you've proabaly already seen the photos circulating the media of the urination, the leashing, the naked prisoners with bags on their heads, I'll spare ya.
Interesting that Rumsfeld withheld this info from Congress since January. I hope he is fired. No amount of 'Sorry, I take responsibility' will be enough in my book for him to keep his job.
