Inside Out Festival
So this weekend was the Inside out movie festival. I've been looking forward to this since I first heard of it back in the spring. So I picked up some tickets and Jessie and I spend Saturday watching glbt themed movies from around the world. Specifically we watched XXY which was the story of an inter sexed youth from Uruguay that was made down in Argentina, The Secrets (Ha-Sodot) which is about two young women at an Orthodox Jewish seminary who try to help a dying woman with a sordid (by there standards anyway) past find peace with G-D while falling in love with each other and finally Were the World Mine which is about an outcast young gay man at an all boys prep school in the states when the school puts on the play A Midsummer's Night Dream by Shakespeare and he plays the mischievous Puck. After reading the play many times he find hidden in the story the secret recipe for the magic dew that Puck anoints the characters with in the story that causes them to fall madly in love with the first person they see afterward. And the captain of the rugby team is decidedly yummy . . . So of course he has to use it; on half the damn town with uproarious results. And the movie is very musical in nature. There were also a couple short's that were pretty good too.
We were also suppose to see another one on Sunday but both of us were pretty movie'd out and tired so we ended up skipping the fourth movie we were going to go to.
So each movie we watched was better than the previous which considering they started out very good is impressive. My only complaint; now I have to try to get a copy of each of them. I've knew before each movie was over that I would have to add it to my collection. So far I've only been able to order one of them. Surprisingly it was XXY which I had thought would be the hardest to find. So within a couple weeks I should have my own copy which you are all welcome to come over and watch or borrow. And hopefully I can find the rest soon too.
