The days are long, the zorb is enjoying them

Happy May, friends! The weather has finally turned into something close to my happy place, here, so I'm taking advantage, both because of preference and because of guilt for what happened on Friday. A bunch of friends and I went to the build your own giant burger (and eat a bucket of delicious fries, too!) place for dinner and followed up with milkshakes for dessert. So good. So much.

Yesterday, it was a bit windy, so I went up to the SF Zoo to be outdoors and active but not totally exposed. I'd never been and it was the perfect choice. The zoo is right on the beach. For the animals closest to it (African savanna types like giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and antelope-like beasts), the enclosure has built in rock piles, barns, and heated areas to help on chillier days. The zoo has a good variety, though it could use a signage and facilities upgrade. I especially enjoyed the big cats and the penguins, of which they have a huge colony in a great outdoor display. I did not enjoy the parents who allowed their children to shout at the animals where there were clear "quiet, please" signs around. Grr.

It's supposed to be less windy and warmer today, so I'm planning to bust out the bike again and go up to the park to read and enjoy the sun for a while. I would really like to finish the book I'm reading; I'm not enjoying it as much as I'd like but I have hopes for a good ending.

I need to buy groceries. Or maybe I'll just order pizza.
