Honda Civic LX

:-D

Dad got in Friday evening and we made the purchase Saturday morning at the first dealership we visited. It was the farthest away of seven but the only one whose inventory listed this color in this trim. My father, the master car negotiator, got it for a price I almost feel bad about (still the largest check I've ever written, though), and they were happy to take my old one off my hands. I won't deny getting a little misty-eyed; that car and I have been many miles together. The new one still feels like a rental, but I vaguely recall the old Probe being that way for a while, too. Aw, car. The new one is super new - it was in their off-site storage and had all of one mile on it when they brought it over.

Anyway, since we finished all of that business by one and Dad wasn't able to get on a flight out that day, we decided to break the car in with a trip to the city to do the Fisherman's Wharf touristy thing. Driving in SF is nerve-wracking enough for me on my own, so I was less than eager to have Mister "You got a 98%? What'd you get wrong?" looking on, but he withheld any criticism, and it was definitely easier driving automatic, although my right hand and left foot still feel phantom car controls. As you can see from the above photo, the parking garage made for some awesome promo shots; I have two more that have other city views in the background, and if the sun hadn't been setting, there'd be one with the Golden Gate Bridge.

Aside from the haggling part that made me very uncomfortable, and the massive sleep debt I've been running since Thursday, the whole thing was relatively painless. I took a one-hour break from sleep at 4:30 this morning to take Dad to the airport which was really the least I could do. Today, I'm going to fill it up with all of the car stuff I took out of the Probe and make a much-needed grocery run, then sit on my butt and do Internet things. *hugs modem*
