FLAIL. That was SO GOOD. Eee! *Kermit arms*

Man, that was so much better than Ark of Truth. I mean, I liked AoT, but it was clearly a wrap-up film. Continuum got to be something that can stand on its own, and if the plot wasn't exactly novel for the franchise (...time-travel? again?), it was one of their best efforts at playing the trope - far less problematic from a "Science: you're doing it wrong" standpoint (again, as Stargate goes), and much more of a fun ride all the way through.

Okay, the problems first so I can get them out of the way:
- Again. Time travel? Really? You are too fond and not smart enough.
- Ahahaha wtf at Sam magically explaining Ba'al's device and figuring it out. Oh, show. <3
- Please tell me the EM bomb was supposed to be self-referential.
- I did feel like there was a long ramp-up period before the action started happening, but then revised that opinion later. Eh.

DONE WITH PROBLEMS!

We had Ba'all! Oh Ba'al. You are my all-time favorite Goa'uld, and I did in fact mourn your passing, but only the second time, because the first was QETESH, MADE OF AWESOME WITH A SIDE OF WIN. And the fact that they had the Ba'al/Qetesh going made me glee so hard.

We had Apophis with a fancy curse and Vala with a BFG! Major Davis for no reason at all and a preeeetty Tok'ra city! Teal'c dies free! General Hammond (*sads*)!

We had an AU where "our" SG-1 did not get their way for a very long time! Dude! Alt!Landry was exactly right about their arrogance, not only because of what he said, but also because "restoring" the timeline is, as we all know outside of Stargate, baloney. And then the poor w00blets had to go away from each other for a year! Woe.

Speaking of which, I think I win the fanserviced award for this one. Yes, even above you Sam/Jack people. My OT3 - that's Cam/Sam/Daniel - was all the bleedin' heck over this movie, with love for all combinations and variations. Holy crap, man. Everyone needs to start writing outtakes with them, like the one where they did secretly meet during the year, and the other one where they didn't die but completed the mission with Cam and then lived out their lives together in some remote place.

For instance.

I was so terrified of this movie because I was accidentally spoiled for the leg thing about a year ago. It was my own fault; I clicked to a Gateworld interview with MS that gave fair warning for spoilers up front, but I thought I could be all sly and skim without seeing them. My eyes caught "loses his legs", I flipped out and closed my browser, and the damage was done. I spent the ensuing months doing my best to forget it, which was a failing endeavor, but I can't tell you how relieved I am that it was done this way. I was thinking permanence in the 'verse, but once things went all time-travelly, I figured we'd get a restoration. Phew.

How friggin' cute was Daniel with other!Daniel's book and the phone call (and the photo omg)? And Sam with her excellent Clark Kent glasses disguise! And Cam with his nostalgia, oh poor boy! I'm sort of amazed that they had him playing his grandfather, but whatever.

So good. I'm immensely satisfied.

Off to hunt down your reviews. I won't be digging for the ones from before this week, though, so if you want to drop a link, I'm all eyes.
