"The Tok'ra, Part 2" is on, and with it, comes a question:
If the Sha're story had been resolved prior to this episode - in a way that did not involve her being rescued and freed and such - would Daniel have offered to take Selmak? Points to consider:
- At this point in the ep, they don't know about Jacob
- The Tok'ra are holding the host thing as condition for any alliance, or indeed, letting SG-1 leave at all. SG-1 were pretty rude about it, from the Tok'ra PoV.
- Sam and the rest of the Tok'ra have made the distinction between Goa'uld and Tok'ra very clear (over. and over. and over), to the point where Sam says if she had been aware of who Jolinar was, she might have found the whole thing enlightening.
- Daniel, unlike Jack, does not seem to have a strong visceral aversion to the idea, and it's arguable that his refusal stemmed more from having other goals (Sha're) to work on.
- On the other hand, this is Daniel Jackson, mass murderer of baby Goa'uld.
- It's arguable that he would still want to explore the galaxy, Earth style. On the other hand, he could do that with the Tok'ra, just in a different way.
Discuss.
