Two days ago, I had one of the freakiest dreams ever. Most of my dreams have something to do with the things that I've read or seen during the day. And once every few months, I have what I call "the haunted house dream". In that dream, I start out going through a show house. Then I come to a fork in the path. One way is easy, the other way is horribly frightening. I climb over walls and swim through rivers to avoid going the second way.
But the dream I had two days ago was unique. I've never had a dream like this before.
I was with my family at our church - the one my grandmother went to. We were there for a funeral. I don't know who it was for, but during the dream I knew that it was for one of our relatives. Even though we were the family of the deceased, we were all sitting in the back auditorium of the church. The funeral was being videotaped. The cameraman said, "This service is taking too long!" I looked back at him in shock.
After the service was over, everybody went out to eat except me. I went to look at the casket, which was in front of the lower altar (the normal place for caskets). The front auditorium was darker and bigger than it is in real life. I never got to the casket, because I was staring at all the people in the front. Suddenly, I realized that all of them were sick, elderly, and dying. It was like being at a nursing home or a hospice - unconscious or unresponsive. Everyone there was waiting for death.
I think I should find a new church.
