Prologue
----------------------------------
Junsu didn't know what was happening.

There was a woman, sitting beside another person who was lying on the ground. In the middle of the parking lot of his apartment. There was a crowd to his right, hovering near the entrance of the lobby.

Another crowd was walking towards him from the left. He could hear footsteps running from behind him.

The woman seemed to be in hysteria. Loud wailing, head bowed, arms flailing.

The person lying down was silent and unmoving.

The people from the left took a turn and reached the center of attention. Junsu saw the woman being reluctantly dragged away. Then at that moment, the woman's eyes caught Junsu's, and she started to cry out, arms reaching for him.

Junsu's attention was so captured by the scene that he failed to sense someone right behind him. There was a hand on his shoulder, forcing him to seat down on a wheelchair. Then a voice beside his right ear said, "It's okay... everything will be alright..."

Finally, the pieces were pulling together, and Junsu realized that he had just witnessed the death of his father.

Chapter 1
--------------------------------------------

A week had passed since the day of the death of Junsu's father. The four day rain had done a miraculous job on the concrete; only a grey shadow could be seen as residents go on their daily routines to get their cars. Junsu rhythmically punched in the password to gain access into his apartment, then pressed his hand on the scanner. With a soft click, the glass door slid open smoothly.

Once inside the lobby, Junsu noticed that the traffic of people had avoided the left elevators in every possible way. The crowd of noon shift workers rushed out of the right elevators and took a wide arc around the sloppy brown boxes piled up on the wall to reach the glass doors. Since the right elevators are constantly moving downward, Junsu had no choice but to press his hand on the scanner of the left ones.

Holding back a sigh he tried to wait patiently, but Junsu kept eying the boxes with weary. Most of the cardboards were soaked, and some even had mold growing on the bottom. Many of the standardized sized boxes (for holding paperwork Junsu had presumed) were caved into irregular shapes. He wondered which unfortunate person these boxes belonged to.

The melodious chimes announcing the arrival of an elevator broke Junsu's thoughts. Half expecting people rushing out, Junsu was met instead by stotic boxes that match their brothers outside in the lobby. Frowning, he precariously peered in to find no one in between the rectangular objects. The warning beep sounded, prompting Junsu to jump forward into the elevator anyway. Casually putting his hand on the scanner, he waited for the machine to recognize the floor he lives on.

He glanced at the boxes with a million questions in his head. Why did someone leave their belongings in the elevator? Paranoia soon kicked in, and Junsu diligently peered into every box; papers, wood, clothing. Then Junsu noticed a laptop among sheets of bubble wrap. His hands paused, and an idea quickly formulating in his head. He glanced at the elevator display, showing that he was only at the tenth floor.

Swiftly, he turned on the machine, all the while meticulously checking for mechanical traps such as hair or dust that could betray his secret investigation. While waiting for it to load its operating system, Junsu pulled out his USB and fixed it onto the side of the laptop. He glanced at the door of the elevator; fifteen more floors to go.

The login page appeared, with the choices 'administrator' and 'me'. Without hesitation, Junsu put his fingers to work. The enclosed space was filled with an undisturbed humming noise, harmonized with the soft taps of computer keys.

The security of the files was well set up as Junsu had expected. The owner's name, however, was almost too easy to find. With eight more floors to go, he researched the government's database for a person named 'Micky'. If Junsu only had more time, he would definitely consider laughing at such a childish name. Who would name himself after an ancient cartoon character nowadays?

Seeing that he's already at level 27, he stored the massive amount of data back into his USB for later reading. After erasing his tracks on the computer, he crushed the lid shut in a hurry, and wrapped it to its original place in time to hear the chimes of the elevator. Patting his jean pocket to confirm that his USB is still there, he walked out of the door into which he meets...more boxes.

Usually a very acute person, Junsu was annoyed that he did not notice a flat on his floor for sale. However, at least he would have the opportunity to meet this person face to face. Junsu wondered if he would look as ridiculous as his name, and chuckled at the thought. A yell came from his left that broke the chain of mirth.

"Wait! Hold the elevator!"

Instinctively, Junsu pressed his hand between the closing metal doors. Luckily, they were motion sensitive and sprung back open at once. The young man who had yelled stormed into the elevator and counted the boxes in a panicked voice. Junsu noticed that the gelled hair was slightly lopsided, perhaps from the stress of losing his possession. The rest of this man looked perfectly normal, much to Junsu's disappointment.

Seeing the perfect opportunity to get more information on this new comer, Junsu asked, "Do you need some help getting these into your flat?"

The man spun around with wide eyes as if Junsu had never been there, and that the elevator was miraculously holding open by itself. Taking a few more seconds to adjust to reality, he smiled apologetically, "Yes, I would very much appreciate that."

-----------------------------------------

After two hours of exhaustive hauling, Junsu was finally able to sit down on the floor of his companion's flat with a coke dangling from his left hand. 'Micky' flopped down beside Junsu after he had closed the door. The two sat there silent for a while, catching their breaths.

"I never found out what your name was." Junsu stated. The new neighbor blushed in embarrassment from either his impoliteness or his absurd name, Junsu wasn't sure.

"You can call me... Chun."

"Oh? Is that a nickname?"

Chun hesitated a moment to figure out how to answer, then said "Yes it is. My real name is too embarrassing to tell people. I just wish that name changing could be easier these days." Junsu chuckled slightly, feeling genuine sympathy for Chun. Chun took a long drink of his coke before asking "And yours?"

"Junsu."

"Hmmm that's an interesting name. Are you from the southern parts?" Chun asked casually, but Junsu caught an hint of intense curiosity.

"Perhaps, I was never sure of my parents' origins."

After a long while of coke drinking, Chun made another attempt at conversation. "Do you know about the incident that happened here a week ago? I arrived here two days after that and most people already knew and were avoiding the subject."

Junsu drained the last of the drink and placed the can on the floor. Taking a deep breath, sounding as if the subject was hard to talk about, Junsu explained, "My father committed suicide... he jumped from the top of the building and landed in the parking lot. I bet the police had roped the area off for days. Is that why your boxes are wet?"

Chun's expression resembled one of pure horror. "It was...your father? I'm sorry about that...and ummm... Yes, yes...my boxes were held up outside of the building, and it rained for four days. No wonder I haven’t seen you around this week."

When Junsu didn't reply, Chun continued "... And your mother?"

"She's still at the hospital. I think the event is too much of a shock for her."

Chun stared at the can in his hand, not quite sure how to continue. "I hope she'll get better soon."

Junsu let his eyes brimmed with tears, "It's getting late, I think I should go back to my flat now."

Chun stood up along with Junsu. "Where is it? Do you want me to go with you?"

"No, it's alright. I'll be fine on my own." Junsu quickly walked out of Chun's flat before Chun could say anything more. As Junsu closed the door behind him in his own apartment, he wiped away his tears and smiled with satisfaction.

Some people are just too easy to manipulate.

However, as Junsu walked back to his room, pondering on the last 15 minutes, he soon grew suspicious at how predictable Chun's reactions were. Perhaps there was more than meets the eye.

----------------------------------------

Chun locked the door of his apartment after Junsu had left. Letting out a breath that he had been holding all that time he was conversing, he slid down onto the floor with a sigh. The pop can rolled away starting out slow, then gathering speed as it crashed with the wall. Chun smiled weakly with pride. He never thought he had to make a conversation with an unfamiliar target. He almost had a heart attack in the elevator when he saw who was holding the door open. Fortunately he had the advantage of being in a state of panic beforehand, so hopefully nothing was suspicious.

Looking around his empty flat, Chun spotted his laptop at the corner of the room. He got up and walked to it with anticipation. A computer stuck with the son of the legendary Master Hacker in an elevator for 27 floors, it must have been through some mingling. Chun gently lifted the plastic and found it to be better wrapped than before. Turning on the device, everything was apparently normal; no virus, no alerts, no anything. He searched the history of the computer, and absolutely everything was clean, just as he left it a few days ago.

Finally, a challenge placed in front of me.

For the rest of the night, Chun diligently tried to catch up to his subject, face glowing with excitement.

A/N: The style of writing is a little different from my regular stuff because it was actually written 4-5 years ago. XD It was an old story I found on my computer, and I decided to change the names. Some details had to be changed, and the prologue was newly written. I realized that my narration was pretty bad back then. >_< Amazingly I still recall most of the storyline, so I think I might continue this.

If you did not understand what happened, here are the key points:
- Junsu's father jumped off the building
- Junsu's mother went crazy
- Junsu was well trained by his father in both hacking skill and in underground survival skill
- Yoochun is on a mission
- Yoochun and Junsu are now neighbours

Thank you for reading! Questions and comments are welcome. =]
