It's Random Post Wednesday and I have a few things to say.
First of all, yesterday I finally sent out Two of Her to Zoetrope: All Story. :)
The response might take a couple of months but that's all right. I sent it out!
I've also finished Hit and Run. You may or may not remember, but I mentioned I was working on this story a few days ago. Well, it's finally done, and it's a 2,400-words, horror short story. I'm searching for magazines to submit the story to, but I'll talk more about that on Friday, when I hope to have more information for you.
Now, for the main subject of the day I have four words for you:
National Novel Writing Month. If you haven't heard of Nanowrimo, it's a little "competition" hosted on the month of November for writers who wish to challenge themselves and have fun. The purpose is to write 50,000 words or more in a month (yes, a month) and the prize is feeling accomplished and also being able to share with fellow writers. Their website has great forums, where you can meet many people with different goals, read about what others write, ask research questions, learn about websites for writers and more.
If you're thinking it all sounds crazy, well, it sort of is, but it's also a wonderful opportunity. There's a lot of resources in the Nanowrimo website, and although you may not be able to write a masterpiece, you can open a door for a wonderful new project that, with some editing, may become a fantastic work you'll love and might later become that masterpiece you dreamed about.
Nano's what helped me write my novel Bloodbound. My first manuscript was a disaster, but I fell in love with it.

So yes, I love Nanowrimo and 2010 shall be my second year of participation. I know November is a few months away, but last year I'd already started planning my novel by July. This year, I only have a faint idea of what I'll be writing about, and I'm not sure if I'll plan much. My writing process tends to vary; sometimes I plan, sometimes I don't.
However, even with zero planning, I am still excited and I just want to know if anyone who's reading this is thinking on participating.
If you are, feel free to let me know and feel free to add me as a friend (my username is zoray) or tell me if you'd like me to add you.
