Although LiveJournal may or may not be the best way to announce this, it could be the simpliest so I'm running with it.

Yesterday I got let go of my job, so as we speak I am unemployed.  It was a bit of a surprise for me personally, but I'd known for a while that it was very possible that there were be people let go.  This company was tied at the ( Read more... )

Damn, Duck, that bites. (And is a little unsettling this engineer who is closely tied to the housing industry.) I'm sorry to hear that, and at the end of summer, too ... a little earlier and you could've had the luxury of free time to go to afternoon baseball games and stuff.

Well, the fall is my favorite time of year, so it might not be that bad of a season to be unemployed. We shall see... If nothing else, I'll get to use my zoo membership more and see the new tiger cubs...

Hopefully your company is more diverse that mine was. That was what was killing them. You could very well be fine, regardless of the market.

So there is a bright side ...

Well, I hope you have some luck finding a new spot. I actually know a few people in Chicago that might be hiring, but they're all structural. (A coworker of mine recently moved to Chicago, so I was making a few calls on his behalf.) Anyway, I have no doubt you'll find something soon.

In the meantime, how's Chicago?

Oddly enough, I might have something almost lined up already and today was my last day getting a normal check from my old job. I'm not too worried yet, though, although that's probably the alcohol talking :)

Things have been pretty well on my end. I'm still a little sad about the whole job thing, but the prospect of 2-3 weeks off in the prime of fall (& baseball playoffs to boot) is pretty nice. I really want to start reading, writing, & board gaming more, so the forced time off could do wonders for that. My family is well and I haven't blown it, yet, with the 'ol girlfriend, so really life is well.

How's life in Seattle treating you? I haven't seen any LiveJournal photoupdates from Ray or yourself in a while...
