carbon made only wants to be unmade
arindam has gone to the bay area for job interviews. i dropped him off at the airport early this morning and will pick him up again tomorrow night. it's quiet in the apartment, and the dark settled in without my knowing because i've assumed arindam's place at the kitchen table with the internet. surfing or working, time spent at a computer slips away a little faster, and as he spends so much time in this chair, i wonder if his days go quicker than mine.
between classes, i cleaned the bathrooms, vacuumed the house, and did two loads of laundry. that's about as much clean-up as i will do while he's gone. being alone doesn't change the fact that at six pm i'm ready to call the day quits and relax. instead i will spend time working on studio stuff, and i expect a call from my cds group demanding my presence at school again. i've a studio pin-up this wednesday, and our 65% submission in cds is due next wednesday. after that, every major thing i have to turn in coincides exactly with a major studio pin-up, including my 100% cds submission. not even thanksgiving will bring relief. oh, and don't forget the capstone preparation paper that is due at the end of exams, if alvaro malo lets me split my degrees (he might not).
my mother is coming the 19th on her way home from a job in fresno. she doesn't know arindam and i live together, but it won't take a rocket scientist to figure it out once she gets here. her visit coincides with my and arindam's one year anniversary, but i believe we're putting off our celebration until thanksgiving, so no loss. i think mom is not planning to visit the extended family for thanksgiving, so meeting me will be as close to a thanksgiving holiday as she gets, unless she goes off and does something with one of the guys she knows. she sounds on the phone like she misses me but doesn't want to let it on too much. in light of that, i'm stewing over how and when to tell her that i'm probably not coming back to nc for a few years after leaving az.
