New Year's resolutions 2013*

Jan 09, 2013 12:30

Rather than make New Year's resolutions that I might not keep (e.g. "I want to exercise every day") I thought I might make a series of general statements about who I want to become; that way I can make changes to how I specifically move to a broader goal. So here we go:

(1) I want to be the sort of person who is always learning.
Things that have come up recently: I want to brush up on my German; I want to learn Spanish; I want to dabble a bit more in history; I want to learn more microbiology.

(2) I want to take better care of myself.
Things I've been thinking about: need to start cutting carbs/junk food out of my diet again since that is the only way I've found to lose weight. I want to exercise regularly. I want to keep working on my mental health. I want to keep working on my spiritual health.

(3) I want to be financially responsible.
I've gotten bad at this, especially over the last couple of months. Although, admittedly, part of that was spending $2000 on needed car repairs/maintenance.

(4) I want to be a writer.
Not for money, but for fun. I've gotten bad at writing. I want to be better about blogging on my grad school blog. I want to work on my Corford series of novels. I want to spend time on the chemistry homeschooling textbook I've been thinking about for years.

I think that's enough for one year, don't you?
