This is one of those things where it never occurred to me there was regional variation until the subject cropped up. When I talk about drinking 'juice', I mean the stuff that you squeeze out of fruit. Usually sold in the chiller cabinets, although there's the pasturised stuff that doesn't have to go in the fridge till it's opened. I assumed that this was a point on which the English-speaking world was agreed (no idea why, the tricksy variations of English have made themselves known to me on many occasions). Then
parenthetical mentioned to me that where she comes from, they call all soft drinks 'juice' - fruit juice, coke, Ribena-type drinks, the lot. So now I HAVE TO KNOW.
