The Incredible Shrinking Woman

May 10, 2010 00:26

I did something to my back again. I believe that the current pulled muscles are the result of sitting in a turned position on the couch while drawing today. Sad me.

...as a result of this I asked my mother some stuff about my father's bad back (she's always thought that his bad back/ruptured disc was, at 6'4,  a Tall Person Thing) and started looking up backs and muscles. Something led me to people shrinking in height. I know, for example, that my dad is 6'3 or so now. He's possibly sunk below that.

In a previous post I described how my mother measured me one day and found that I was only 5'9 after being 5'10 since early high school. I'm actually quite embarrassed by the perceived shrinkage. I finally grew comfortable with my height at age 18 and it actually became a matter of pride to me. 5'9 just sounds so short...

Anyway I started looking up shrinking to see when that sort of thing was supposed to start.

Guess what? It can start around age 30 and is affected by amount of calcium in diet.

Shit. I need to remember to take my calcium supplements. I've been so bad about taking my vitamins when I know that they are so important for me.

Waaaah.
