Alone

He was alone.

A mere hour ago he’d had a home, a family. Now he was alone.

His parents’ territory was safe, the den located behind a thick tangle of thorn-bushes. There was no Mustang pack around; none came, not after his Edward-father had killed the young Mustang. The predator had strayed into their territory- not ours, his parents’- and ( Read more... )

ahhh, I really like this! And your icon is about the cutest thing ever. :3

I really liked this part: He and Alphonse-brother had helped, a bit. But the spikes they produced couldn’t hold a candle to the impressive feats of alchemy their father had demonstrated. because not only the images and comparisons are interesting, but the ability to compare it to the real world is, too. Also, it shows us a really good relationship between the characters, their moods, and the way they think. Yay! very effective ( ... )

I tried to edit so people could see the connection to the real world more. I say "edit" here as I was just typing the storyline that came into my mind the first time around as quickly as possible, since I am plagued by random bouts of forgetfulness. Haha;;
The Edward knew that his parents could kick him out one day(what with the little hints and all), but didn't actually think it was really coming until the father Edward made it final. I didn't quite want it to be "Get the F- out of here you -" but not "Sorry, honey, but could you please leave?" either, so I settled for something in-between. I thought that it was just part of a natural pattern, and not as shocking as the situation would be if the family was a human one. Just kind of suck it up and move on, you know? (-ε ( ... )

ahh, i'm just getting used to reading nothing but relationship fics and doujins, which tend to be emotionally piled on and very dramatic. *shakes out head* Strange things come out when I do that. -o.-o

But yeah, you should be proud: you've successfully done what you set out to do, and people liked it, too. <3 can't get better than that, except maybe fame and/or money, but none of that in my threadbare pockets! heh heh. ^^;

You're welcome. ^__^

Ah, I know when that happens. Idea doujins in particular has a habit of slamming me with the emotion. Hahaha;;

Fortune and fame, eh? Hmm. Yeah, I'm feeling quite broke lately, too ㅠ_ㅠ

Idea is the winner. I won't lie. They're exactly what I was reading. I'm finally figuring out how to write as well as that group does, and compose things that way...if only I could draw like that now, I could probably cause seizures of joygasm. :P But that would almost be a superpower, can't have the hubris to have that. :P

Oh really? Hit the nail right on the head there. Which one(s) are you reading?
And their style O-O Both plot and illustration-wise, they're just amazing. The drawing style is kind of messy if you look at parts, but works very well when looked as a whole.
Isn't it natural to want it all? XD

Which one? All of them. No joke. (the fma ones anyway)

You're right, it can be messy when they do the stark black and white ones; it is rather unconventional. I love the way they draw people as though they are washed out in a photo--the nose, the mouth, that sort of thing. soooo pretty though. "Oasis" in my favorite as far as relationships--the entire way Ed acts in it speaks to me. (meaning a girl definitely wrote it, lol.)

I suppose it IS natural to want it all. Hmmm. *strokes chin*

Ahh, Oasis is a good one. I particularly liked Traumerei too, myself.
I keep obsessing over keeping the lines neat, but I want to try their style sometime...

I'm in the same boat with what you say in the second line. I'm not real enthralled by the way they draw fingers, either, but I want to try the eyes/nose thing they do. *nod nod*

Traumerei makes me cry, I can't read it.

I know, their style of drawing faces, that is just amazing.
I can do traditional art and manga, but not blended, like what they're doing.

But I still liked Traumerei, in its cryptic meaning and ending. It still ended in a hopeful note, but Linus (made by GD Mechano and IZUMI Yakumo), now that was really angst.

While you could SAY it has a happy ending, [spoilz ahead lulz] I would still say that it's more depressing than uplifting: Yes, Ed is happy (and Al is too??), but Ed's totally out there and Al's a fricking ghost! That's not a happy ending man. ;__; Not when their whole goal was to live, in such a way that you were LIVING. (still existing, yes, but not LIVing.) I dunno, I can try to convince myself of a happier ending, but buh. Not happening, for me. I cried to my whole family for a while after reading that one (mostly because i'm dumb enough to read them right before bed. blah.)

Linus...I've forgotten the story of that one. I can't deal with more angst right now. No rereading, don't do it....

You know, I think we've gotten kind of off track here. xD; I suppose if we call it being about writing better, we wouldn't be, but...lol. ^^;

Hmm. I believe that the Elrics are living in their "Truth", and if they're happy with it...*shrug* I am tempted to give a full outline of Linus, but angst is known to be harmful to humans when overdosed...
Because it was mentioned, I went and read Linus again. Aaaaaangst.

"Kind of" off track? Try "very"! XD
