I've fallen out of love with Batman, and it happened long before this film… which was pretty okay. But every time Two-Face showed up (in order for that to be a spoiler you'd need to know enough about Batman villains that it's not a spoiler), my mind went into Extreme Suspension of Disbelief Failure. How did that eye move? How did he get that kind of deep tissue damage and not die due to his brain overheating? HOW DOES HE TALK WITH NO CHEEK?! I'd try and try to remind myself that it's only a movie, and a superhero flick at that, but then he'd move his eyes and DAMNIT, HOW DOES HE DO THAT WITH NO MUSCLES OF ORBIT?!
And, after making a big deal about falling distances earlier, the last "death" in the film seemed a little… convenient.
I liked Gordon and "the Italian guy". I didn't care for the guy playing Dent (Aaron Eckhart), but if you're going to go for golden-boy and creepy-creepy in one package, I guess a Mormon's a good first choice. Heath Ledger did a competent job playing a crazy guy, but the thing about the Joker is that he's got no upper boundary. He's kind of an actor's dream that way.
Meh. Maybe I should just lapse back into hating movies.
