So yeah. Got five of six interior panels on the truck changed out, along with two fairings on the passenger's side. Wound up having to just remove the middle one and run without for a while. Also noticed if I want that one piece of trim added to the rear fairing, I'm gonna have to drill some bolt holes. Not yet. That trim needs to be replaced as well. At least the piece has the part number stamped on the inside.
And what fun! Unexpected expenses. Our truck started having trouble starting while we were still on the road, even after we had the APU running. To the point that when we pulled into the TA at Concordia, MO, we sort of discovered why, because our battery box caught on fire! The cause is still in dispute. One guy said it was because he saw two wires rubbing together and shorting out. Why he didn't point this out or fix it himself remains a mystery to me. Or it could have been a defective battery, since the fire does seem to have been centered over one particular battery. The latter is my suspicion, though try to prove it now.
We couldn't wait around, so yay! Had it towed to a shop about 30 miles away where they fixed it the next day. Oh yeah, we stayed at the Holiday Inn right behind the QT.
But all seems to be back as it was now. I even turned the APU on, and with the fridge unplugged and everything turned off, it hasn't even bothered to come on in battery charging mode. This is a good thing.
I installed some wood paneling along the interior, in three places. One to keep a shelf from collapsing. Another to prop up a compartment since the cat's like to hide out on its top. The third behind the cat box, because they'd clawed their way through the original panel, and exposed wires so it became a hazard if not dealt with. I thought it'd be good to put some kind of abrasive surface on it so as they scratch, it'll wear their claws down, but didn't realize it until I was mid installation. Ah well. Next time perhaps.
Still need to install weather stripping at the passenger's side door hopefully to stop it whistling. And clean the air filter. And install some front facing cameras. And figure out where to put the new fire extinguisher since the driver's box works, but it's also jammed to the gills.
