What? Two posts in one month? Are you kidding?

Not sure how to categorize this.

Yesterday I find out one of our friends from the pagan community;
  • Is going blind.

  • Has kidney failure

  • Is undergoing chemotherapy, and though cancer wasn't mentioned, I can't think of another reason for doing this.

And just to add to the misery, My mate came down with a case of breaththrough COVID on September 4. I followed two days later on September 6, my sister's birthday. Now I have something else to remember that date by.

Thank heavens we were both fully vaccinated at least. When we got tested last Wednesday, the Nurse Practitioner said otherwise my mate would have landed in the hospital. I have a feeling I might have done the same, even though I caught it later and fought the worst of it off sooner. It makes me wonder that since I had a more averse reaction to the vaccine, did my body produce more antibodies and therefore I had a higher level of protection? I can only speculate.

In...lighter news, I came across a story of Arandu Arakuaa, from Brazil singing in an an indigenous language in danger of going extinct. The results are sometimes...uneven as mixing Heavy Metal with tribal sounds and Brazilian instrumentation can show. Honestly, I like 'em better when they're not being all metal, and I say this as an unreformed metalhead since at least 1983, when Master of Puppets came out.

Then again, I know in this neck of the woods there's at least one indigenous language in that same danger, that of the Siletz tribe.

I don't know if it'd be up to me to try and save it, paleface that I am. Or maybe I should learn old Norse and start trying to sing in that language. I dunno. I'm just throwing ideas out there and see if they stick.

news, sickness, covid 19
