So yay.

I got the last account set up for transfers. I also installed the the motherboard into the A10, and what's interesting(sweat, sweat) is that I DIDN'T have to reinstall Ubuntu, just swap the boards and go. I'm typing on it now. It BETTER behave, and the new chipset does seem to have increased its performance, at least some. I went ahead and reinstalled the sound card back into the i7 since I don't need it in the A10 now. It's kinda down to some nice to have's now, like a better video card and such. This 1gig's...okay, but it does make travelling artefacts across the screen, which to me means something's probably wrong with the video memory. So I'll have to upgrade sooner or later, and a dedicated video card just makes SUCH a difference in performance too.

I've started investigating whether on the new Toshiba laptop if I can just swap out the A6 motherboard for an i5. Problem is I can't seem to find any pictures of both, and while the screw holes and ports might all line up between the two, that's not to say the ribbon cables and everything else that plugs in will. I need to get confirmation before I'll even consider it. Cost would be about $250 if I can do it.

But for now, it's pack up for the Portland Blues Festival this weekend! Looks like a barn burner, as the past few days have already reached triple digits F. Bring the water and the sunscreen! We're gonna need it.
