Better get something out there. Though not much is going on really. Looking forward to the time at home, even if I'm going to be rather busy about it. I'm waiting on a phone call from the place I shipped the Lenovo to for repair. Turns out I need the serial number in order to be mailed a Win7 image for the Lenovo. Whoops. I left a message, but no dice in anyone getting back to me, though the second time I called I did get the receptionist at least, so somebody's home.
My pre-employment report looks good, so the mate and I are slowly weening ourselves away from Schneider in order to make the leap into owning our own truck. The cash for the purchase and setup is there. But we need to make sure we meet the requirements, though I'd be more than surprised if we didn't. The DAQ reports will be waiting for us at home. So yay.
Speaking of trucking, cigarette loads are now more of a pain in the ass than ever! In a small nod they reduced the red zone(where you can't stop) from 300 to 250 miles. Ooooo, thanks. But NOW they've mandated a different route to get across the country, one that easily adds 200 miles at least. So now the only way to make on time delivery is to arrive for the pickup as soon as the window opens and get to Fontana just in time. Seriously. And this is pedal to the metal, well as much as a 65mph goverened truck will allow.
Now there's a message that office and maintenance will be closing at the French Camp area. Why do I have the feeling we're getting out just in time? They did open a new center in Phoenix, AZ, but that's little comfort after shutting down Seville, OH to just drop lot status, and now doing this to French Camp. As long as they keep Portland intact. They should though, there's too much outbound freight there to just let it drop.
Got some progress made on the taxes under income. The W-2's are entered, as is the pittance of interest from our savings accounts. Mostly what's left is the Sched C from the mate's side business that never really took off, and declaring our gains from our retirement accounts, even though none of it is taxable. Then it's on to deductions, which are pretty easy to calculate IF you have all the materials in front of you. I could start entering days worked into the spreadsheet that automatically calculates the per diem, But not yet. It's okay.
In the meantime, I'm still busy going back through Bar of the Gods to edit, and putting up chapters as I finish. I've got another one that needs splitting, and I'll do that as soon as the text is edited.
