Yay for the big 4 6

Well let's see. How did this day start off. Mild bitch at the consignee. Right. We're supposed to go over 2000 miles in 42 hours. Right.

All right. No empty trailers at the consignee. This in itself wouldn't be so bad if not for the following. Sent me to a Macy's DC, where I'd never been before. Another mild bitch about blocking the gate. Fine. I back up and turn, since I'm only bobtailing anyway. No empties there either. I send in the message for that. I get told to pick up a DIFFERENT trailer at the SAME place. Oh WTF. Who's not paying attention here? There are NO empties whatsoever here.

So after sending the SAME message back, get told ah, there's a new drop lot down in Sumner, so I head that way for the empty. Of course. I do find the assigned trailer there. HOWEVER, the electrical plug on it has a loose connection so the trailer lights won't stay on. I try prying apart the pins for better contact. Still no good. Hokay. Send in message that "Hey, this trailer's bolloxed!" Not hearing anything back for a while so I call in.

NOW they want me to pick up a trailer that has ONE pallet upon it, and take it somewhere to get it unloaded. Oh just farking lovely! Miss one turn getting there, and try going in a back way only to see "Weight Limit 15 Tons" just as I want to turn. Fine. Keep going and circle back around. The road in and the yard's rather tight, but I'm in and out of there fairly quickly. First thing that went right all morning.

Now, down to the shipper. Drop that now empty trailer, and head for the loaded one. Tandems are all they way back and I'm going to Hell-A, so those need to get slid. Start testing the tires. Thud. Yes you got it. It's got a flat! So by now I've spent about eight hours getting to this point after starting at around midnight. Looks like there's a tire bank in Fife. I thought about taking our own pump and inflating, but the thing's only at 30 ft/ibs. Probably too dangerous to inflate, and I couldn't find the chuck. So...finally get there and get the tire replaced in a reasonable amount of time. Second thing that went right today.

At the end of it all, I'm like "Thanks gods. You REALLY know how to make this day just...extra special."

Just another day at the office.
