Further Proof Reality Is Arbitrary(My Latest ACIM Bitch)

All right. So first we have the unreliability of the senses as the first argument. That I get in my guts. I've experienced that phenomenon myself in highway billboards. They look like one thing from far away, then closer in I discover what I was looking at was completely different from what I thought at first.

From there I can dig one of ACIM's assertions, that I do not perceive my own best interests. How could I, when the data they're all based on is unreliable at best?

But then once unreliability of the senses is introduced, it has to be applied consistently, and that includes everything I've read in the text and every experience I've had that seems to support it.

In fact, the gods themselves could put the naked truth in front of my face and I'd never know it for certain. There's simply no way to absolutely determine whether it's the truth or not, regardless of whether it actually is or not.

From this, the best one can do is simply make an arbitrary decision about the nature of reality and act accordingly. This may feel incomplete or even disappointing, but there's no other way.

a course in miracles, wtf?, down the rabbit hole, ravings, rantings
