All negative emotions (fear, anger, etc.) use time as their basis. Either for perceived past slights or hurts, or in anticipation of those yet to come. The present IF you can keep your focus on it offers only love, joy, peace, harmony and such. It takes training to keep focus on the eternal present though, and nobody ever does it perfectly at all times. Forgiveness is merely the return of focus to the present. The past is gone. The future or at least what we think will happen may in fact, never happen. So yay!
