Characters: IC!Mahaado, NPC!Delwyn
Setting: Mahaado's shop
Rating: G
Summary: Exhausted from Kafele draining most of his heka, Mahaado is asleep at his workbench. Delwyn brings some tea to him, and the muns make an honest attempt to get the two to have a romantic conversation. Just when they're finally getting somewhere, Mahaado falls asleep.
Mahaado had been working in the shop all day. He was in the back room, mixing up potions, when the thought of laying his head down on the table started sounding better and better.
Delwyn walked in, holding two steaming mugs in her hands. She set one down beside Mahaado on the table.
His head was buried in his arms, and he looked to be... asleep? He didn't sleep all that often, but he certainly never slept in the middle of his work.
She reached out and tentatively put a hand on his shoulder, shaking him gently. She didn't want to startle him, afraid of what the result of that would be, but then again she wasn't in direct line of fire either...
"...Mahaado?" she called softly.
He snored a little. "Just five more minutes... Mana. Then you can practice your spirit spells..."
"Who is Mana?"
Mahaado grunted a little as he woke up. "Hmm? Sorry, It appears I must have fallen asleep..." He rubbed his eyes and yawned. It was somewhat uncharacteristic of him.
"Well you have been working all day, so I'm not surprised," she slid the mug a little closer. "I brought some tea down for you. I added a bit of mint to it."
"Oh. Thank you." he blushed slightly. "What hour is it?"
"Almost midnight, I think."
"I certainly did doze off, then. My apologies, maiden."
"Don't apologize. You looked like you needed the rest. After everything you've been doing with the body for Kafele, I'm sure you probably need the rest."
"He was practicing spells. I did not realize how much of a drain that could be."
"Will it always be like that?"
"It seems to be based on the amount of heka he is using. He does not feel exhaustion or drain of energy, or else if he does, he has not determined what it is or how to manage it. He simply pulls from me."
"So is he always going to be dependant on your energy in order to function in his new body?"
"For the basic spells to move and speak, it should not be a drain. But when he tries to act as a dark magician, that is where I start feeling..." he yawned again. "Kind of tired. Though his body is capable of storing and drawing on energy, depending on food he consumes. But it is likely he does not feel hunger or exhaustion. So he has not yet determined when he needs to replenish his own energy."
She took a drink from her own tea, thoughtful. "There must be a way. Have you thought of asking your teacher if he knows of any spells that would help?"
"I think once he grows accustomed to it, he will know when he should eat, when he should rest by returning to my soul room." Mahaado took the mug and sipped his tea slowly. "Though if he does not learn this skill quickly, I will certainly consult Master Meryl."
"Sooner might be better than later. Especially if...something happens."
"Pray that in the meantime, it does not."
He whispered a short spell and a small bottle appeared in his hand. It was an energy potion. He poured it into his tea, and sipped it again.
"I hope it doesn't either," she agreed, drinking her tea. "Often the quiet is only a precursor to the next event."
"That is something I know well."
She was quiet for a moment. "Where did you go, on your last journey to Azeroth? What did you see?"
"I spent most of the time with Master Meryl, and the rest was spent on the battlefield."
"Do you ever wish to see more of Azeroth?"
"It can be a very lovely place. I do wish to return there again. But I have much work to catch up on first, if I wish to make the next rent payment at all."
Delwyn looked down into her now-empty cup. "If it isn't too much trouble...I'd like to go with you the next time you venture to Azeroth."
Mahaado finished his tea as well. "I do not foresee that being a problem. I am certain Master Meryl would be very pleased to meet you..." he blushed again. "I... did speak highly of you to him."
That made Delwyn blush also. "I...that is kind of you. I hope I don't disappoint any expectations he may have."
"I do not believe that you would. You are a kind, caring and sincere individual. Everything that I said about you is truth."
Her blush deepened. "....thank you."
He offered a small smile, which was interrupted by a yawn.
"You should get some rest," she said, taking the empty mug. "Finish up on these in the morning."
"No no... I just have a little more to complete." Mahaado put his head on his arm again, and before he knew it, he was asleep again.
