This was my first combat sortie.
I have been ordered to fight the Angels, along with whatever other opponents the EDF dispatches me for, as effectively as possible. I will need to improve my performance to that end.
I have been training in simulators, and my average sync ratio is increasing at acceptable rates. However...
In yesterday's battle, Pilot Ikari used combat tactics unlike any taught by NERV. I do not understand why. Furthermore, variations on these same tactics seem to be in widespread use among EDF pilots.
The available data suggested that Pilot Ikari would outperform me, but I did not anticipate the degree to which he would. I do not understand how, but these tactics are the only reason I can think of for the discrepancy.
Would the Commander approve of the use of combat tactics not authorized by NERV? I do not know, but they are not expressly prohibited.
Given my orders, the appropriate course of actions seems clear.
