Firstly, danke. For taking the time to write it out, for sitting down to watch it all on one go and for indulging me.
Secondly, I have to say I agree with much of everything you mention. While everything after RTD left has a cinematic quality and special effects that are unparalleled in comparison to the previous series (I think of, more than anything, the planet Midnight, with the cascades of diamonds, which was the fakest thing to come out of the BBC since Merlin's dragon), the heart and love and depth of characterizations is largely gone from the Moffat-era. I still sit and wonder how someone who was so successful at creating full-characters in his few one-off episodes over the series can mess it all up so much when given the reigns to the show as a whole.
I love Clara. I LOVE Matt as the Doctor. The man is a gifted, gifted actor, and can go from menacing to child-like naiveté at the drop of a hat, but the heart isn't there anymore. It's archetypes of characters that are shaped by their pre-written mode: the impossible girl, the woman who saves the Doctor, the woman who kills the Doctor. I have such issue with all the characters largely stepping out of the same mold give and take a few mysteries and a chance encounter as children. Add to everything the disservice to River Song and it just leaves me deeply molested.
I hate that I no longer RUSH to download the episode the moment that it came out. I found myself rushing to download the second half of the season because I had gotten a membership at a private UK torrents website and I wanted to improve my ratio. So I would wait around to download the episode and then watch it at some point during the week rather than right away.
The 50th is also largely devoid of any anticipation from me. I want to see David and Billie but this whole business with John Hurt just screams of STUNT CASTING and retcon and I'm not sure that I care, to be honest. I'm with you entirely on wishing to see this show MOVE ON from Moffat and his influence and see what another showrunner would be capable of doing.
