Yesterday was the first day of "baby season" hours at the PW Care Center, and I got to usher them in since I'm doing Monday night shifts this summer instead of Sundays. It was good to get back in there and do some hands-on dirty work, and it felt especially rewarding after a day of unfulfilling paper-pushing. Apparently early in the year is much more possums than birds, because in the 4 hours I was there we got in 5 baby possums. They were pretty cute little buggers, and the ones that I did intake for were all fake-ferocious and toothy when I scruffed them to move them to a new containter. It's sad though, because when they come in, it generally means that mom has kicked the bucket. Some even came in which were found in the pouch of the dead mother and had still been suckling on her "poisoned" milk. Yeesh. Possums can have litters of up to 12 (!) so you can imagine the amount of animals coming through.

And another dream from last night that I managed to recall: I was going to take a trip to Russia on very short notice (for work, I believe) and was extremely excited about this opportunity. When I got to Russia (don't recall the trip), I was anxious to get my passport stamped for the first time, but when I got there, they told me there was a problem with my passport (maybe this has to do with my recent travel discussions or last week's episode of Thief?). Apparently mine had been issued by the Neurosciences department (???) and wasn't official, but someone else quickly came in and said it was fine, so I was stamped and on my way. Once there, I just remember meeting up with a friend (who lived there now?) and after getting my money exchanged, we went out to the store so I could buy groceries for while I was there. I got stuck in the beer section, trying to decide what brand of beer I wanted to buy, and ended up deliberating forever. All the brands were either US beers or imports that are available here, and after a while, I thought I saw Yuengling and I couldn't believe my luck, but it turned out to be Dos Equis. I then realized that I was taking too long and met back up with my friend. Things get hazy here, but I think that maybe we hooked up, which was weird at first because I knew she had a boyfriend. It turns out that she and the boyfriend had broken up recently (I think) and that he was back playing in some band that he used to be in, which was becoming hugely popular again. There was something about the ex-b/f's stomach, and having dirt on it, but I don't remember that. The last thing I remember is seeing rows and rows and rows of GIANT power station/line things (these things). It was dark, greenish, and hazy out, but these things were huge - like the size of mountains and they stretched as far as the eye could see. I don't remember if I was walking or maybe flying past them, because I remember seeing them from above and not being able to see down to the bottom of them because they were so tall.
