Another Transformers Blog.

Ok, as the last post on Coulrophobia was a bit heavy, i thought i would blog on something a bit lighter.

I'm excited about the transformers film, I have remained excited even after seeing the new trailer. However there is a way it could have been better.

Did you know that in 2006 a competition called TRANSFORMERS’ MAKE PRIME SPEAK CONTEST was held? Entry was simple, navigate to the website, input your name, address and think of a submission. Winning this competition ensured that Peter Cullen , who is the voice of Optmus Prime in the soon to be released move, would speak their line of dialog during a stirring emotional scene at the climax of the film.

Winners of this completion was determined via the collection of anonymous internet votes. You go to the website, select the one you want Prime to say and then go do something else (I suggest playing Dead Rising). Simple Eh?

Do you know what won?
“Freedom is the right of all sentient beings”

Oh Snap. Its enough to make you sick! I mean, the voting was anonymous I'm a hundred percent certain that we could have made Prime say something more entertaining. ANYTHING would have been more entertaining. I will just chuck out three pop-culture suggestions out there:

1. "Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!"
2. "Khaaan!"
2. "Use the Force, Luke."

Not terribly good. But arguably better than the alternative.

As it was, The top 10 submissions are all recorded by Peter Cullen and were supposed to be made available for download off the official transformers movie website. Unfortunately, i am unable to find them. Here is a list of the Top 10:

1) "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."
2) "That's how I roll."
3) "Autobots: transform and roll out"
4) "This world should learn from its own mistakes, not ours."
5) "One shall stand... one shall fall."
6) "It¹s Prime Time!"
7) "Alpha Trion said there’d be days like this."
8) "Now all we need is a little energon, and a lot of luck."
9) "You¹re on the wrong side of the blaster to champion that, Decepticon."
10) "There’s a thin line between being a hero and being a memory."

How the hell did number 2, or number 6, not win?
