The first thing Allelujah can remember is waking up in the Terra asylum. He was a child back then, no older than ten at the time. He wasn’t sure how he got there, and the only thing he can remember is his name and that he has a younger brother named Hallelujah. Hallelujah and Allelujah were almost inseparable, and they survived such foul conditions working together. Their bond is what held them together, and through tests and medical procedures, they promised they would survive together. Even though Hallelujah is the younger brother, he has always been protective of Allelujah. Allelujah keeps Hallelujah from going out of control, but even then, Hallelujah won’t always listen to him.
Allelujah and Hallelujah were never told why they were being held, and the closest answer they ever got was when they heard one of the doctors mention brain abnormalities. Allelujah could communicate with Hallelujah without talking, but using his brain. He could never control it too much, and Hallelujah was far better at using their “power” than he ever was. He could sense emotions from people if he focused on them, and he could sense movements before he could see them. Allelujah didn’t understand why he had such abilities, and Hallelujah used them far more than he ever did.
After a few years of being there, Allelujah and Hallelujah escaped from the Terra asylum. To escape, Allelujah and Halleujah had to kill a good number of people. While Hallelujah didn’t mind killing people, it severely affected Allelujah, and would for the rest of his life. They lived on the streets, Hallelujah being the one to bring in the most money. Allelujah tried to educate himself, reading books and trying to get an education. He believed they would be able to have better lives through education, but Hallelujah did not believe in his philosophy. Allelujah lived to live, and Hallelujah lived to survive. Allelujah attended the high school in Terra a false name, and he attended a few classes at the university when he had the time and money to. He was a very bright student, but his troubling past and Hallelujah didn’t make going to school easy.
One day, after hearing rumors Hallelujah was down in the Abyss again (the fight club to be exact), he went to get him. Allelujah never approved of Hallelujah going down there, which was nothing new, but Hallelujah had made a lot of enemies. It was an unlucky day, as Allelujah was ganged up on by a bunch of people who had a serious grudge concerning Hallelujah. Allelujah fought back, but his gun jammed, and the men out numbered him. He was severely beaten and left for dead. Someone, he can’t remember who, brought him to the clinic in Terra, but the staff was overwhelmed by his state. Allelujah suffered a head injury the doctors couldn’t explain. He lost the previous abilities, the “twin connection” and reflex skills he previously had. Allelujah remained in the clinic a few days until Hallelujah came to get him. Hallelujah took care of Allelujah as best he could, but he noticed something was off about him. Allelujah still has not told Hallelujah the reason he was attacked, figuring it would create more harm than good. After the incident, Allelujah tried to distance himself from Hallelujah (as much as he could, anyway). He had become more withdrawn from the city, mostly staying inside or in the library. He’s still trying to adapt without his previous abilities, and the connection with Hallelujah he lost.
