ZombieLoz: THE RETURN

...It's spreading. LIke a virus. Which is entirely appropriate.

I think we've stumbled into being an unintentional Round Robbin...
have to say as much in the user info ^_^

At first Yazoo could but stare. It was Loz alright, walking toward his brothers as if he hadn’t been dead for a nigh on a week. He was moving forward slowly but he was moving, his steps heavy. “What the living hell…” The rest of Kadaj’s mutterings was lost in the wail coming from their older brother. The pitiful sound released Yazoo from his stupor. He’d never been able to resist Loz’s cries whether they were of pleasure or pain and he moved to his sibling now, intent on soothing him. Well, that and finding out what the hell was going on. He frowned a bit when Loz walked right into one of the bikes and simply knocked it over instead of moving around it but shook it off. A moment later he was standing in front of Loz and the other man had already lifted his arms to greet him.

“Zooo…” Loz moaned as Yazoo wrapped his slender arms around that familiar torso. Loz smelled like… well, that was odd actually. Loz smelled like less like Loz and more like dirt and blood and… was that rotting meat? Yazoo frowned for a moment but just then Loz’s arms closed around him tightly albeit awkwardly, his hold stronger then ever it seemed. Yazoo decided to figure it all out later. Loz was back and alive and nuzzling Yazoo’s head clumsily. A moment later Kadaj was there too, his thin arms wrapped around both his brothers. “Daj…” Loz mumbled. Yazoo smiled as Loz turned his head to nuzzle his youngest brother. What could this be but a gift from Mother?

“Ow!”

Kadaj’s yelp was more surprised then pained but there was a note of fear in it that garnered Yazoo’s attention. He looked up to see Kadaj push back and with an uncharacteristic lack of grace, fall on his ass. He was screaming imprecations but, in another uncharacteristic move, scrambling away at the same time.

Yazoo looked at Loz, curious as to the reason for their brother’s behavior. He immediately slipped out of Loz’s arms, noting as he went that Loz’s embrace had definitely become stronger. He backed up a step or two and looked at Loz again.

A few strands of Kadaj’s silver hair hung from Loz’s mouth and the taller man’s eyes; though duller then they ought to be, held a predatory gleam. “Daaaj…” he said again, his voice just this side of a croon.

“Hungy Daj…” Loz began to move toward Kadaj, his arms slightly upraised. Kadaj’s eyes widened and then he pushed himself off the ground and ran to Yazoo, coming to a halt right behind his older sibling. Loz’s eyes followed Kadaj’s progress and positively lit up when his prey disappeared behind Yazoo. Yazoo suppressed a shudder as he watched Loz’s body leisurely come into line with his head. Loz began heading toward them, his feet dragging ever so slightly, his arms upraised again. Oh hell no, Yazoo thought, no more hugging for you until we figure this out…

Behind him Kadaj made a sound not unlike the sort of whimper one could have expected out of Loz up until a week ago. Kadaj was an ornery brat sometimes but he was still the youngest and Yazoo felt protective of him. He frowned for a moment, trying to decide on a strategy. Finally he turned and handed Velvet Nightmare to Kadaj.

“Don’t shoot unless you have to alright?” Kadaj nodded looking impossibly young and adorable, even with teeth marks in his pale forehead and blood drying on his face. Yazoo smiled a little and turned back to Loz. Loz had stopped a few feet away with a confused look on his face. When he saw Yazoo approaching him he smiled. It was a wide childish grin that made Yazoo smile back even though his brother’s teeth were stained with he didn’t want to know what.

“Zoooo…” Loz said and lurched forward.

“No Loz,” Yazoo said sternly. “I need you to put your arms out to the side and stay still. Can you do that for me?” Yazoo was within grabbing reach now and he held himself loosely, ready to pull back. Loz tilted his head to the side, the grin fading from his face. Do you really know me brother? Yazoo thought. Or are you just a shambling husk?

The brothers considered each other for a quiet moment and then Loz lifted his arms up and out. His movements were even slower then usual as if he was trying to show that he could be trusted. “Zoo.” He said, his voice raspy but sincere. Yazoo nodded and then stepped forward, ignoring Kadaj’s quiet sound of protest. He moved quickly, not sure how long this truce would last. It was the work of a moment to unzip his brother’s jacket. Sure enough the wounds were still there. Yazoo looked at the blood and torn flesh in the dimming light. Ultimately he decided there was nothing else for it and gingerly poked Loz in one of his wounds. He was jerked backwards when Loz seemed to shake and began to emit a series of gasping moans. He looked up to see that the grin was back on Loz’s face.

“Zoo… Tckles!” his brother said and went back to his version of a hearty chuckle.

Yazoo raised an eyebrow and looked at his hand. Nothing. The interior of the wound had been dry and cold, he was unsurprised to see a lack of fluids on his fingers. Loz lowered his arms and looked at Yazoo again, that predatory gleam coming back into his eyes. Loz began to shamble forward and Yazoo backed up automatically, never taking his eyes of his slow but relentless pursuer. “What happened to you Loz?”

Loz tilted his head but did not stop advancing. “Zoo…” he groaned and raised his arms again. “Hungy Zoo… need…”

Yazoo continued to retreat slowly. “What do you need Loz?” Yazoo could feel Kadaj at his side now and he flicked a glance at him. Obviously the younger man had overcome his previous fear. Kadaj’s expression was equal parts annoyance and acceptance as if this was just another way Loz had come up with to drive his brothers crazy. Velvet Nightmare was trained on Loz but Kadaj held it loosely as if he was waiting for an excuse to lower it.

“Answer him Loz,” Kadaj said. “What do you need? We’ll get it.”

“Braaaaains…”

Yazoo just knew he and Kadaj had blinked at the same time. “Excuse me?” Yazoo said.

Loz stopped moving and gave his brothers the single most pitiful look either of them had ever seen. “Long time look for Zoo, Daj… Hungy…” Here Loz emitted a pathetic whine. Normally tears would be welling up in Loz’s eyes at this point but Yazoo didn’t think they were ever going to see that particular bodily function from him again. Funny the things you miss…

“So that’s what you want?” Kadaj said slowly, lowering his weapon now that Loz wasn’t advancing. “Brains?”

Loz nodded.

“Human brains?”

Loz nodded again.

Yazoo and Kadaj looked at each other and then at their brother. “Yeah ok,” Kadaj said. “We can do that.”
