And my friends page crashes my browser. I'll be catching up on y'all later.
For the anniversary I gave Beardo a little box of penguin chocolates, because they are cute and penguins have special significance.
Beardo gave me a laptop.
Not exactly even, no?
To be fair, it was a very good deal from Toshiba, and the laptop I used (the first one ever) was an old IBM workhorse that could barely crank out the internets, let alone anything more advanced than CivIII. Plus the battery had been dying lately, mysteriously draining instantaneously even though it said it had a charge, so while I could use it plugged in in bed until it overheated (not very long) it wasn't much use for anything else. And that sucker was HEAVY; I've sprained my wrist for days because of it.
The new laptop came loaded with crappy trial versions of everything ever, and it took many hours over two days to get all the junk off and cleaned up, and we're sure there's still more lurking, even after using a special utility to show what is really being run on startup. Now comes the timely process of getting all the software I do want on there, not just CivIII but my Japanese language programs, Office, Alcohol, Firefox and extensions, VNC, and so on and on ad infinitum. Maybe I'll do our taxes from bed this year, that should make up for the pain of writing the checks.
Oblivion news: I decided to go ahead and start the main quest with my current character. Jesus, I hate oblivion gates. It's like the worst bits of Diablo crossed with the worst bits of Champions of Norrath crossed with the worst bits of Doom. I think I'll go skipping around Skingard again for awhile, I love picking flax.
