So since I have decided to try my hand at expanding the size of Lottery Odds, I thought I'd keep y'all updated on how the progress is going. I know how much all of you love to hear about writing-related stuff here in this space, so let's go with another one. ;)
In all seriousness, if this had come across my desk two years ago, I'd be in an absolute tizzy over this. The idea of expanding the novel by about twenty-five percent would have made me scream and then hide under my bed... but my experience in dealing with the rise-and-fall-then-rise-again word count of Salvation has prepared me for this in a way that no other project ever has. So, I feel pretty confident going into this little literary land war in Asia.
In keeping with the National Novel Writing Month tradition of word counts, my math says I've got about 22,000 words to go in order to make this book fit the parameters that Harlequin wants. Hey, the last time I set out to do a thing like this it resulted in a contract offer (e-publishing, I said no, they went out of business about a year later), so maybe this one will net similar results.
So here we go, the first inkling of progress for the filler material for Lottery Odds:
3424 / 22000 words. 16% done!
And I hope y'all are doing well. Oh, and I submitted Salvation again. More torpedoes, more chances to sink ships.
