ok so, i got dye today at the mall. and um, didn't get a chance to get bleach. i really need a 40 vol. kit... yeah. fuck! so i tried dying it anyways, & just put it this way. manic panic, you suck so much. i dyed it once, didn't show up. so i did it again, over the same spots. & it barely shows up. i'd like to scream. so, tomorrows mission is to

my dear, manic panic is a stain, not exactly a dye. it will definitely not work if you do not have your hair as yellow/white as possible. it must have a blank canvas! (which sucks a lot when it comes time to do the roots)

assuming you mean brand, if you're looking for unnatural colors, special effects is usually the way to go. pretty expensive at about 15 dollars a bottle, but most people swear by it.

i used to dye my hair with manic panic's hot hot pink, however, and it still worked pretty well. they have different shades and different staying powers and fading tendencies, but it's much cheaper and still does the job if hair is bleached.

thaaaaank you! the last time i used special effects was the blue kind & it stayed for about a day. but then again i don't think i left it in very long. & i was trying to dye over a very dark brown. buuut, i may give it another go!

i'm trying to get a brrriiiight purple. i've got the color already, but it's manic panic. i can either go with that & get a bleach kit, or go for special effects.

unfortunately, special effects (to my knowledge) is also a stain, and any color of this sort *must* be applied over heavily bleached (1-3 times) hair in order to look the color you want. i also recommend leaving it in for 45 minutes to an hour for best staying power!
