Bitches, the admin ain't gonna fuck with us. In Soviet Stuyvesant, the students fuck with YOU. Here's how.
So the hated kiosks are at Stuy. On Monday, Teitel will most likely be
"testing" them out. He's going to be timing how long it takes a bunch
of kids (probably about 100 kids) to enter school and scan in from
about 7:50 onwards. The best way right now for Stuy students to stop
this system from being a success is for us to SLOW DOWN the system on
monday. If you see the scanners on monday, get on the kiosk line and
take as long as you can getting out your ID card--make sure it gets
lost in your bag, stuck in your wallet, etc.
It may sound silly--but think about it--if 80 people take 2 minutes
each to get out their IDs at 7:50, they'll all be very late to first
period and the system will be a failure.
Also-Initially, ID scanners weren't going to cost the school anything.
The Dept. of Edu was going to pay for them. But as it turns out, we
have to hire 3-4 people to operate the ID scanners. That will cost
Stuy $120,000 a year. Where will the money come from? Probably from
extracurriculars (like SING!, speech and debate, clubs pubs), new
textbooks for APs, electives, etc. So if you're trying to spread the
word and you find Stuy kids who are very indifferent to the
kiosks--remind them that they will be directly hurt by it.
