And, for such a dark theme, it had so many brilliantly funny moments in it! I was laughing out loud at some of the lines, like Owlman's aggrieved: "Why are you stealing my face?" And Batman completely losing it about the Batarang/Owlarang name - ah, echoes of the famous Bale Out. Brilliant!!!! I think my favorite line has to be: "It's his face, a good face, and this two bit asshole is ruining it and using it all wrong." I was giggling madly to myself over this one - it's SO something Owlman would think, too! I love it so much.
(And aaargh, I'm practically quoting the whole thing back at you, but I just have to say I love the line about the summer day "spurring on murders and ice cream sales." - you really have a way with words, such a wonderful turn of phrase!)
And the end - oh, wow. So dark, and awesome, and so believable, SO something Owlman would do - I have to say, I loved seeing inside his head during it, seeing his reasoning about why he was doing it, how it was working for him - rather than just "He's evil so he does this because I say so" - I really love the twisted way you wrote him. And isn't it scary how EASY it is to imagine an "evil" Batman?
Love the line about Owlman seeing that Batman believes in shame - just, ouch, and so true. And I love that he can get inside Batman's head so easily (which completely makes sense, as it IS him, in a way), and knows what will destroy him the most. And I adore this line to bits and pieces: "You're trying to commit suicide by crime, aren't you, little bat?"" - ohhhh, so very true! And I have to love that he calls him little bat - I do adore pet names from the nemesis. :)
But I think the killer line is this, the thing that is most likely to destroy Batman entirely: "Batman thinks that if there's someone like him that's bad, he himself must deserve this." - because yes, and wow, and how DO you recover from something like that, knowing it was a version of you that did it?
I am running out of words to flail with, so I just have to say, THIS IS AWESOME AND BRILLIANT AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Oh, and...will there be more? :D

I am thriiilled that you enjoyed the smacktalk. I really think Owlman's reaction to Batman, besides the obvious rage, is to feel insulted and insulting, because he finds the good guy thing so weak. One of my favorite lines is the one about the cave you quoted back, so I'm like, ahhh. <3
As for the funny, I am pretty much ALWAYS a little bit funny even if I don't want to be, which is why I needneed Bruce/Bats to be pitted against someone who makes jokes or at least insults. :) Oddly enough, too, my Batman doesn't curse much, and I do, so that's odd...but OWLMAN can drop f bombs left and right because he's the goddamn motherfucking Owlman, so, whew. And I do picture him being a little more "street" than Bats, actually...just more vulgar all around.
I think "omg! teh evil!" is a terrible excuse for anything in fiction, particularly rape. I mean, WHY? There has to be a line of twisted reasoning for the action to have weight. And yeeeah, it's scary how once I started writing from more inside Owlman's head, everything just made sense. Humiliation and teaching pretty boy Batman a lesson and all. Chills! Oh, Owlsie.
Hah, I love the little bat line, too. Thank you. *g* The Joker has taught us all that a proper nemesis doles out pet names.
And I totally wanted guilt and despair from Batman, so I'm very happy that came across. And how IS he going to recover from knowing there is a mirror of him so twisted it would hurt even him? WHO KNOWS.
And of course there is more, because Bruce still has to get home! And it's no fun to write Earth-3 without the Jokester coming out to play COUGH. I mean, it's all very ~mysterious~ and I don't have the ending already written at aaallll, no sir.
