a promise
i told ben i would update my livejournal, at least tonight, and if possible more.
updates:
-school is going well. it's overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.
i am really looking forward to being done with school, though i am want to take
this stupid language disability test thing so everything is steady eddie.
i really really enjoy my "Interrogating Fear" class and really like the professor.
i feel really comfortable talking with my professor and i feel like she respects me
but is still hyper critical of everything, awesome style. i was saying how i felt bad
about calling out students so often and she was like "he's a grown up, i think he
can handle your criticism." often times though, i feel like dudes just get defensive
and fight hard to say "we agree" and "what i am trying to say..." stuff...
-working at mystery train one day a week has been totally awesome. listening to
lots of records, weird stuff, normal stuff, stuff i thought was normal but is weird, stuff
i'd otherwise have purchased but find after listening to a side i've had my fill. josh
also gave me the re-issue wholesale catalog to order from...oh fuck....but i'm being
good about it, i need to save cash.
-the breaking world records site has been down for about a month and i feel good
about it. it will go back up in the next couple weeks and will be chock full'o content
and that is even better feeling.
-bengeorge7 played a show recently in turner's falls, this weird ass town north of
here, past montague, south-ish of greenfield. neil and faf just bought their house there
and it's soooooo beautiful. the show was good, felt a little nervous to not play for
friends or people who are familiar with us, or at least the last 6 "episodes" we've
performed that led up to this one. ben and i were captured by the doo-doo man and
tied to chairs, speaking/scatting (pun) in doo-doo tongues, then using the control panel
to find a guitar and photo of the doo-doo man. the new BG7 split tape is REALLY good,
i'm pretty proud of it and i want to get the printing done ASAP so the world can breathe it in.
-DJ'ing with dan on tuesdays has been non-stop awesome, lots of good vibes, friends, super good jams, and i think dan and i are significantly improving, as we should, doing something every week for the last 7 months. feel pretty grateful the night has been going so well and we seem to draw lots of different people into the bahhhh.
-talking to liz cashman on the ride home i said something profound "life is broken up into three things 1.) good vibes 2.) bad vibes and 3.) weird vibes." i think that's true. goal is "all good vibes" (even if they're bad or weird, ie joggers eaten by alligators or daniel johnston youtube videos)
