I can only speak for Cardiff, but pretty much the usual. Family outings, a pet for the grownups in the family to take care of, being allowed to stay up past 8pm, and learning how to ignore anything unusual that goes on. [He glances over at him.] What about in Kansas?

I can't really vouch for what's normal since I hardly had a normal childhood myself. I'm guessing it's not too different from anywhere else in the world. Maybe more chores, if your family owns acreage.
