[sitting at a card table in his back yard, shuffling cards with a cooler of long necks sitting next to the table]

Fay, don't eat the roses! I'm not pulling another thorn out of your mouth.

[shaking his head, he shuffles the cards some more]

Anyone up for a game of poker?

sam loves poker, puppy!, sam doesn't want a job

Are you... Sam Winchester?

Souseiseki.

Me and Axel were having a conversation about jobs. I asked if I should get one, he told me to go to school. But I need someone to act as my legal guardian and I would need a fake ID. He told me to look for a guy named Sam Winchester and gave me a description...

...Can you get me one? An ID, that is...

[bites his lower lip, thinking]

Why am I not surprised Axel's involved in this?

[shakes his head]

Yeah, I can get you one. Do you think you could get me a Template ID off one of the citizens to mimick?

He told me that getting a job would eventually lead to me getting probed by scientists, because I'm not exactly human, but since I look like a school kid, I'd be better off there.

[frowns, that was not a fun topic]

...Yes, I think I can get you one to copy... It should be easy.

Oh, and could you get one for my sister, too?

At least you know you're not exactly human. [makes a face]

If you bring your sister around so I can get a picture to use for the ID, sure thing.

[blank look, followed by a very confused face] ...What do you mean...?

Okay... I'll get the Template ID and bring you my sister... Is that all?

... my brother brought me back to life after I was stabbed in the back. To do so, he made a deal with a demon. After that... we were never quite sure that I was still completely human. Like maybe something darker had come along for the ride as well.

[nods] That'll do it.

...Wow... I didn't think things like that could even happen outside of TV...

Then again... I have met someone without a heart, so I guess anything is possible.

My entire life can pretty much be summed up by a montage of every cheesy horror movie out there. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, shapeshifters, witches... the whole nine yards.

Nobodies though... definitely a whole new ballpark for me.

...Really?

The Nobodies... They are a strange bunch... 'We are alive, but we don't exist'. What is that supposed to mean?

Guess you haven't heard about the joys of growing up as a Winchester.

Technically, I understand. All the supernatural creatures we run across -- you know they don't exist, that they shouldn't be real, yet they breathe & are just as alive as you & me.

Vampires, werewolves, ghosts and witches... Oh my. Have you ever met a zombie? What about um... Frankenstein? Or... The little old woman who lived in a shoe. She must complain about it a lot...

But... I don't understand... If you can see and feel them, doesn't that make them real?

If by zombie you mean reanimated corpse, then yup, I've met one of those. Frankenstein & the little old lady are just fairytales to the best of my knowledge.

Logic dictates that the stuff that stories are made out of isn't real. That there is a realm where the imaginary creatures belong to, in our minds, & then there's reality where we thrive. It really throws people for a loop when the two collide, as it were, & the things they thought were just make-believe are really out there lurking in the dark.

Were they pleasant? Did they smell really bad? Do "reanimated corpses" have names?

...Things were so much simpler when there was just 'real' and 'fake'.

If you define "pleasant" as murderous crazy, sure. She reeked to the heavens, as most dead people do. Her name was Angela.

Heh, innocence. I miss those days when things were simply black & white with no gray inbetween.
