I am interning at the Austin Museum of Art. It is fun. I can see why people don't like working in an office, but I think I am pretty used to it. It's just really unnerving because it's like one big open room that is so quiet all the time.
This weekend I won $$$ for my first design award! IT FEELS AMAZING!
The piece that won is a book cover for the book "An Invisible Sign of My Own." The design/illustration is okay, but I screenprinted it with a raised plastisol ink (usually used for tee shirts).
With plastisol ink, you can print it, and then heatgun-dry it, print again, heatgun-dry it again; after about 15 to 20 pulls, you get a raised surface which is FTW. lit'rally.
I am nervous about graduating. I talked to a designer that I admire this weekend about my portfolio and she was kind of rude. She liked some of my work, even though she told me so with a rude tone. I love when people have a strong opinion, but I don't think a terrible attitude is necessary to convey that.
